I love Polaroid

So does the rest of the world. I savor every picture I take with my remaining 5 packs of the film. Well in the beginning of 2008 Polaroid decide to close factories here and abroad, thus ending the production of the coveted film. That is when a team of ex-Polaroid employees and film engineers brought it upon themselves to jump start production and bring the great film back to us in 2010. Give these guys a few minutes of your time. They have a beautifully designed website and are doing a great thing that everyone should support. "The Impossible Project"

This time of year is pretty exciting, longer days lead to longer rides and the smell of the BBQ. The World Cup is in full swing and all the East Coast racers are getting into the rhythm of driving and riding. The other perk of this time is that with the welcome of the World Cup Soap Opera are pictures from the guys that cover it. They are a link for many of us to replace the office and cubicle walls with course tape and trees, ecstatic fans and semi-psychotic racers. One of our favorites here at Traction is Gary Perkins. If you don't know his name you know his images. With a panache for composition and an ability to capture speed his photos give us a front row seat to the action. Loose ends...

For those of you who have not seen the trails at Lonnie Paxton's house, they are supreme! Heath Pinter and Lonnie have been busy little beavers sculpting huge hips and transfers with long run ins. Some people drink green beer and whiskey (David) and others boost the lip. Check out the vid. Chase Hawk is crazy, high speed, brakeless!



Claire Buchar received her new Intense Socom with a kickin paint job. Translucent brass finish over the raw metal, will it be available to the regular customer? WideOPEN has the details. Her bed buddy Chris Kovarik pulled the overall win at the Fontana Series. He won every race of the series with the exception of the last. He had sprained or twisted or tweaked his ankle a few days before the race and did not place as well as the other races. The point is, he still raced.

Gary "The Flipper" Perkins is one hell of a photographer. He covers the World Cup circuit and his images grace the pages of all the big magazines. One of his newer projects is entitled "My Bike", highlighting how the bicycle effects our lives from work to play. Take a gander.

Americans love their guns. Although it may be a controversial issue to some there is no denying the fact that we love bustin caps. Kyle Cassidy feels the need to document these people in their homes. The pictures speak for themselves.

No, I am not talking about that idiotic Oakley/Blair Witch Commercial hype project. I speak of "wideOpen", some boys out of the UK have been pumping these big PDF issues out for a little while now. A bi-monthly magazine, it covers all the UK has to offer from racing updates to new products. A bucket load of articles and hundreds of photos packed into each 80 plus page magazine. Remember LitterMag when you had to wait for each issue to drop from the heavens to feast your eyes on the alternative. Same idea, different execution. Not as cut and pasted together but at the same time thats what we all love about Litter. Wideopen! good guys doing some hard work. Check it out, they mean well and they did it for you, besides what else do you have to do at work.

Ken Goto

I have been a fan of Ken Goto's work for some time now. He captures skate like few others, more engulfed by the characters that participate then the action itself. This love of portraits has breathed quite a bit of life into his portfolio from snapping beautiful images of skater-actor Jason Lee or brutally honest pics of Mobb Deep star Prodigy. Well in Oregon maybe, this pic submitted by Kristen Muskat of a Zanzibar Mangrove tree was elected Photo of the Year. The Outdoor School in Portland puts a calendar together each year in an effort to raise money. This year they were able to raise 13,000 clams for themselves. Nice pic Kristen.

This Damian is actually quite good. Damian Breach is an Aussie picture taker. Splitting his time between the states and down under he can be seen at many of the East Coast races. His eye for action and his composition style make him a standout. If you have the chance, say "Hi" when you see him and take a peruse at his site (Link to the left)
